I know for a fact that they have 10 trades, over 150 apprentices and well over 160 employers that are not supported by any labor union. I know this because I happen to be the apprenticeship coordinator for these nonunion employers and apprentices. The apprentices in the apprenticeship program are employed and paying taxes while being trained. This is a program that actually trains individuals that will be in a higher tax bracket than someone that is employed at a minimum wage job. I would encourage him to get all the facts before he writes another letter slamming a department or a division. This is one governmental department that is actually trying to save taxpayers money that also produces taxpayers at the same time! Cathy Pierson Medford Vote for Salmon I am encouraging you to open your ballot and vote for Cathy Salmon for District 6 School Board. After teaching in Central Point for 28 years, I was honored to meet incredible people who helped bring our schools to their high level. Cathy Salmon is one of those people. I have known her as a friend and colleague for over 25 years. She has always worked to better the environment of our children with integrity, team spirit and devotion. Her job in human resources with the district office gave her the opportunity to meet and work with all the people wearing all the hats who contributed to its accomplishments. She is personally invested in the success of our district because of her own experience as a student and as the parent of students here. I trust her to do the job. I hope you will, too. Susan Moore Gold Hill Supporting Caballero Hello voters in School District 549C. Since I do not reside in the Medford School District all I can do is envy you for having a a chance to elect Lilia Caballero to position 7 of the Medford School Board. I have known Lilia for several years and have worked with her on a couple of her many community projects. I don't know of anyone in Medford who works harder to improve the community. She has been an asset to every organization she has chosen to involve herself in. The school board will be no exception. I wish I could vote for her. John Harkins, retired juvenile probation officer Gold Hill Vote for Campbell Please vote for Michael Campbell for Medford School Board. Michael brings a fresh perspective to voters. With ideas such as community forums and television coverage of board meetings, more Medford residents will be able to be involved and informed in Medford School District issues and developments. Already a successful businessman, Michael brings skills in communication and positive collaboration. Strengthening and unifying our district will create a better environment in which our students can learn and thrive as citizens. Do we want a candidate who is “actively disliked” or “ruffles feathers” as a management style — which is how his opponent has been described by herself and others? No? Then please mark your ballot for positive change. Vote for Michael Campbell.
