Girl, 16, dies in accident SAMS VALLEY -- A 16-year-old girl died late Wednesday night when her pickup truck left the road and struck a tree. Tabitha Ashley Sartin was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about midnight in the 600 block of Rock Creek Road, according to Jackson County sheriff's deputies. The teenager was going too fast for the conditions and apparently lost control of the pickup, deputies said. She was not wearing a seat belt. Curt Sartin said his daughter was on her way to visit a friend. He said she formerly attended Crater High School but was being home-schooled in recent months. "She was a really good kid," he added. Besides her father, she is survived by her mother, Deborah, and two sisters. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
