He was born November 15, 1942 in Covington, Ky. to Carsee and Marie Payne Brinkley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962 with the 3rd Infantry in Arlington, Va. Lathan moved with his family to Oregon in 1968 and worked as a yarder operator for Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. in Coos Bay until 2001 when he retired and moved to Medford. Lathan enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending winters at Lake Havasu, Ariz. He found his love of running at the age of 40 and enjoyed many hours running with his friends. He leaves behind the family he loved. Wife of 54 years, Patricia; two daughters, Dana Brinkley and Stephanie (Craig) Wolgast; three grandchildren, Carsey, Jordan, and Logan Wolgast; and his beloved dogs, Seth and Lola. He will be greatly missed. At his request there will be no service.
