Kinney fires 72 to win medallist honor North Medford�s Tai Kinney was medallist and Grants Pass, led by Johnna Nealy, won the team title Tuesday in Southern Oregon Conference girls golf at Cedar Links Golf Course. Kinney fired a 72. Nealy shot 76, helping the Cavers to a 338 team total, eight shots better than runner-up South�s Medford�s 346. South�s Abby Fowler shot 74. "Nealy, Kinney and Fowler are probably three of the top 15 girls in the state," North Medford coach Tim Sam said. "They competed really well. Their scores seem to keep going lower." North Medford�s Kelly Berry shot her second best score ever, and had her highest finish in an SOC match with an 85. Ryan Defenbach took medalist honors with a score of 74. Henley came in second with a score of 352, and Illinois Valley and Phoenix were tied for third at 375.
