(Mail Tribune / file photo) The Ashland Emergency Food Bank has donated $23,800 to help area residents directly impacted by the Almeda fire, according to a news release. The money, donated to local advocacy groups Rogue Climate and SO Health-E, are intended to provide food and support the Phoenix-Talent Fire Relief Center, located at The Shoppes at Exit 24. The site is still serving 600 people a week with the help of 25 volunteers, the release said. Officials said the relief center “plays a crucial role in getting much-needed supplies directly to fire-affected community members.”
