Within an hour of sharing surveillance photos from the bank robbery reported at 501 Crater Lake Ave. shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, investigators had gotten tips identifying the robbery suspect as KC William Blunt, 24, who spent time in prison for robbing a Motel 6 on Alba Drive in April 2012, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said. As tips came in Wednesday afternoon and officers remembered Blunt from the previous robbery, an officer who had seen the surveillance photos recognized Blunt driving past at Hillcrest Road and Black Oak Drive, Budreau said. In the traffic congestion there shortly after 5 p.m., the officer couldn't get turned around and catch up to the vehicle, but he did note the license plate. The car was registered to Blunt's parents, who live at the same address he does, police said. Detectives went to the home in the 2200 block of Greenbrook Drive, police reported in a news release. Blunt wasn't there, but detectives found evidence, including some of the stolen cash, that linked him to the robbery, Budreau said. As detectives talked to people around his social circle, they heard Blunt might be headed to Seven Feathers Casino, Budreau said. Investigators notified security at the casino in Canyonville. At about 2:45 a.m. today, security at the casino operated by the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians called Medford police to report they could see Blunt at a blackjack table. Casino security tracked him on surveillance video while a Medford police detective and Douglas County sheriff's deputies headed there to arrest Blunt, Budreau said. Blunt was arrested and brought back to Jackson County to be lodged in jail on charges of third-degree robbery, aggravated theft and parole violation. He remained in jail this afternoon without bail.
