He was born June 29, 1961 in Germany. His parents, now deceased, were Bonifacio and Lynn Rios. He grew up in Germany, California, and Washington State. Ricardo joined the United States Air Force shortly after turning 21 years old serving a total of 4 years, 11 months, and 18 days, almost 2 years of that being of foreign service prior to his honorable discharge. During his service, Ricardo worked as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic. Ricardo was awarded the Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Service Ribbon, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. His longtime interest in engineering led him to work at Boeing Aircraft Company. Even after retirement he was constantly developing new and innovative ways to save energy and improving the efficiency of complex machinery. He was also interested in world-wide politics and could name many of the current world leaders. Ricardo spent the last several years in the Rogue Valley. He struggled with several medical issues. Fortunately everyone he met soon grew to appreciate his outgoing and friendly personality. He joined the Waters Edge Community Church where he so often said, “I love God and Jesus!” The members welcomed him and soon found ways to help him connect with the Veteran’s Domiciliary in White City. There he found helpful staff providing the services he needed as well as a home with an extended family of supportive fellow veterans. Ricardo leaves us with an important legacy. Those fortunate enough to have known “Rick” remember his ability to affirm everyone he met. He was not hesitant to say, “I love you!” A good lesson for all those he leaves behind. He is survived by two brothers, Francisco Rios who lives in San Antonio, Texas and Bonifacio Rios Jr. who lives in Spanaway, Washington.
