The vehicle, a 1996 Honda Civic, was discovered parked at a home about one mile from the South Valley View Road location where Anthony James Waldron, 20, was struck and thrown approximately 70 feet at about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jackson County sheriff’s Capt. Joe Puckett said. Sheriff’s detectives have interviewed several people in connection with the case, but have not made any arrests. "We certainly have our suspicions (of who was the driver)," Puckett said. "But we don’t have anybody yet who we can call a suspect." Puckett said police are most interested in finding the vehicle’s operator "to get their perspective on what happened." Advertisement Waldron was struck while walking with his brother and another man along South Valley View Road near the Interstate 5 overpass. A witness told police that after the accident, the vehicle sped east toward the freeway. Waldron was taken to the hospital with major head injuries. He died Thursday at Rogue Valley Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said. The man who was walking with the Waldron brothers, Komac Tapp of Ashland, said they told him they had arrived in Ashland more than a month ago and had been camping out near Highway 99. Puckett said the suspect vehicle has been seized by sheriff’s investigators, who are using it to obtain more clues about who was behind the wheel when Waldron was struck. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to phone the sheriff’s office at 774-6800.
