By JONEL ALECCIA Mail Tribune At 46, the Ashland jewelry maker was far too young to suffer a massive stroke. But that’s exactly what happened several months ago, leaving her not only very ill but without income. The woman, who owns a fifth-wheel trailer, has been living in her rig at the Jackson Wellsprings outside Ashland. Advertisement She fell behind on the rent for her space at the site and worried that she’d be evicted. That’s when Sharon Schreiber, director of the Interfaith Care Community in Medford and Ashland, stepped in to help. With Schreiber’s intervention, the woman’s back rent was waived. Now, managers at the hot springs site simply want the woman’s trailer moved. Fortunately, she has friends who’ve offered property near Ashland where she can park her trailer rent-free. Unfortunately, getting the trailer moved is beyond the woman’s budget. If she could ask one wish this holiday season, it would be for a towing business or private party with a big rig to tow the trailer to a new site about 2 miles outside of Ashland. "She’ll have some stability with a roof over her head," Schreiber said. With that security in place, the woman who started her jewelry business with $1.76 in beads and wire can become independent once again. To help, call Schreiber at 779-8564.
