The body of Adam Michael Abbey was found on a trail off East Fork Road more than two weeks after police discovered a car stolen from Grants Pass parked along the roadway. Police saw two people in the vehicle earlier, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's investigators along with Grants Pass police and the California Highway Patrol were trying to determine whether Abbey had any link to the stolen car, deputies said. Abbey, who had a criminal history that included convictions on misdemeanor assault charges, was also wanted for violating the conditions of his probation from his Sept. 28 guilty plea on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and menacing, court records show. A warrant was issued for his arrest Jan. 12 in Josephine County Circuit Court. The cause and manner of Abbey's death have not been determined and investigators hope an autopsy scheduled for Monday will shed light on the case, deputies said. Anyone with information about Abbey's activities and whereabouts in recent weeks was urged to call sheriff's deputies at 530-841-2900.
