CRIME Two men are suspected of stealing more than $100,000 worth of property during recent burglaries Comment By Nick Morgan Mail Tribune Follow @@mtcrimebeat MailTribune.com By Nick Morgan Mail Tribune Follow @@mtcrimebeat Posted Apr. 7, 2016 at 4:31 PM Updated Apr 7, 2016 at 4:45 PM By Nick Morgan Mail Tribune Follow @@mtcrimebeat Posted Apr. 7, 2016 at 4:31 PM Updated Apr 7, 2016 at 4:45 PM » Social News Two men were allegedly behind a string of burglaries that targeted Medford businesses and totaled over $100,000 in losses. Daniel Silva-Ledezma, 27, of Medford and Julian Brice McIntosh, 21, of White City were arrested Wednesday on aggravated theft charges. According to Medford police Sgt. Josh Reimer, the arrests followed a search Wednesday by Medford police and the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team at Silva-Ledezma's residence in the 1100 block of Mt. Pitt Street in Medford. During the search, Medford police discovered a substantial amount of property tied to recent burglaries at Real Performance Auto, ZZ Electric and Capsey Automotive, as well as several other burglaries, according to the release. Stolen property was found throughout the residence and buried in a hole about 5 feet wide and 6 feet deep on the property. "We were there for hours," Reimer said. "We seized a lot of stuff." Reimer said tools found by police included high-end electronic vehicle diagnostic tools, Snap-On and MAC mechanic's tools, socket sets and air tools. "The hole they were buried in — you could confirm a huge inventory list from Capsey alone," Reimer said. Reimer said taking inventory of the stolen property and returning the property to the rightful owners will take time. "We're still in the identification stages," Reimer said. Real Performance Auto and ZZ Electric, both Medford businesses located on Grape Street, were burglarized the night of Dec. 31. ZZ Electric reported losses of more than $40,000 in property, which included Stihl power tools, a 70-inch TV and scuba gear. Real Performance Auto reported losses close to $8,000 in tools. On March 1, Caspey Automotive on Stewart Avenue reported losses totaling $56,000 after thieves broke windows to unlock a door from the inside. Court documents show that when he was arrested Wednesday, Silva-Ledezma had more than $700 in his pocket and a substance in a baggy believed to be methamphetamine. Silva-Ledezma faces felony charges of aggravated first-degree theft, first-degree theft, and three counts of second-degree burglary, possession of methamphetamine and delivery of methamphetamine. He remained lodged in Jackson County Jail Thursday on $50,000 bail. McIntosh, of the 7500 block of 28th Street, White City, was arrested on charges of aggravated first-degree theft, first-degree theft and second-degree burglary. He remained lodged in jail Wednesday on $30,000 bail. Reach reporter Nick Morgan at 541-776-4471 or [email protected]. Follow him on Twitter at @MTCrimeBeat.
