Guiliano hits jackpot with another ace By DON HUNT Dont be surprised if Tony Guiliano hits the lottery any day now. When youve made three holes-in-one in eight months, anything can happen. Guiliano sank his third ace since September on Sunday when he holed out at Widgi Creek Golf Course in Bend. "I know Im the luckiest guy in the world," said Guiliano, a junior at South Medford High. "I know most people are lucky to get one in a lifetime. "But in each case Ive hit the ball square. Each time, the ball has landed five to six feet in front of the hole and trickled in." Guilianos latest hole-in-one came on the 143-yard, No. 15 hole at Widge Creek. He used an 8-iron. His father, Jerry, and Mark Williams of Corvallis witnessed his balls latest disappearing act. "There were shadows on the green and so I wasnt sure if my ball was hidden in one of them or had actually gone in the cup," said Guiliano, who went on to shoot a 2-over-par 74. "I walked up to the cup and there it was." Guilianos other aces came on the 170-yard, No. 11 hole at Rogue Valley Country Club on Sept. 21, 1999, and on the 178-yard, No. 16 hole at Reams Golf & Country Club in Klamath Falls on May 1. Guiliano started playing golf four years ago and he played on the South High golf team this spring. He carries a 6.5 handicap. "Im not a real long hitter but I hit the ball straight and my short game is pretty good," he said. Lately, however, he hasnt needed much of a short game.
