Roseburg leads SOC in voting for all-state Matt Brock of Roseburg earned a double dose of respect Tuesday in leading a list of 14 Southern Oregon Conference players on the Class 4A all-state football team. Brock, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound senior lineman, was the lone SOC player to earn first-team acclaim by gaining top honors as an offensive guard and defensive lineman. Roseburg paced the SOC with seven players on the all-state squad, with Grants Pass adding four and one player each from Ashland, North Medford and Crater. Ashland senior Kris Pavilionis was named to the third team as a wide receiver and defensive back, while North Medford senior Ken Halpin also earned double acclaim on the honorable mention squad as a running back and defensive back. Crater senior Anders Vetch was an honorable mention selection on the defensive line. Mike DeLaGrange was the top honoree selected from Grants Pass. The 6-6, 300-pound senior lineman was named to the second-team offense. Other Cavemen to be honored were senior linebacker Len Nuanez and senior punter Jay Slack on the third team and junior defensive back Parker Lane on the honorable-mention squad. The SOC champion Indians earned two nods on the second team in senior offensive tackle Robin Knebel and senior defensive back Kevin Linderman. Roseburg senior Matt Ledbetter was selected to the third-team defense. Honorable mention went to senior center Ryan Wafer, senior kicker Ryan Holt and senior linebacker Geoff Kirkendall. Mountain View's father-son duo of Jerry and Tom Hackenbruck earned two of the three top all-state honors. Jerry Hackenbruck was named coach of the year, while his senior son, Tom, was named the offensive player of the year for his efforts at running back.
