Fujas, 20, finished second to his 19-year-old roommate, Tanner Hall, in the skiing slopestyle event. The silver medal performance was worth between $8,000-9,000, according to Fujas. It’s the biggest prize he’s ever won. Fujas will also compete in Saturday’s SuperPipe. Slopestyle consists of a series of jumps mixed with rails that skiers jump or spin on and jump off with flips and twists, either forward or backward. "Things went excellently," said Fujas. "I wanted to be in the top 10 and move into the finals. After my first run, I knew it could be a good day." Fujas qualified third in the 20-person field after two runs. Fujas’ initial qualifying run put him in first place at the time. He crashed on his second attempt. "I over rotated a little bit and because the light was flat, I couldn’t see the landing," said Fujas. "When I hit, my leg gave out and I went down the hill." In the finals, Fujas had two good runs. Fujas was in first place until Hall, the top qualifier, got a better score on his last attempt. The best of two runs is taken for scoring. Hall won with a score of 93.67, while Fujas tallied 91.00. Jon Olsson of Sweden was third with a mark of 90.00. It was Hall’s third consecutive Winter X Games slopestyle victory. "I knew I could put down a much harder run, but my knee didn’t feel great," said Fujas. "I changed up my second run almost completely. Pretty much the last half of the run, I went backwards. The judges like that a lot."
