PREP ROUNDUP North's Folsom, South boys shine at GP Rotary Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 3, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted May. 3, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News GRANTS PASS — North Medford’s Halley Folsom set a meet record in winning the high jump and won the 300-meter hurdles, and the South Medford boys took second at the 66th annual Grants Pass Rotary Invitational at Grants Pass High on Saturday. The Grants Pass boys won easily with 135.5 points, followed by the Panthers (54), Thurston (53) and the Black Tornado (35.5). On the girls side, Marshfield topped the team standings with 92 points and Roseburg was second with 83. Grants Pass captured third (75.5) and North Medford was fourth (72). Folsom’s mark in the high jump was 5 feet, 6 inches, and she ran the 300 hurdles in 46.14 seconds. The senior finished second in the 100 hurdles, while teammate Savannah Greenwade took first in the 400 (57.13) and second in the 200 (25.69). Phoenix’s Emma Hickman won the discus in 120-2. The mark is second best in Class 4A. South Medford’s Kaizer Gillispie, who already owned the state’s best time in the boys 400, won in 49.01 seconds. Teammate Tristan Akery was fastest in the 800 (1:59.06). The Panthers’ 4x400-meter relay squad of Akery, Cody Larson, Josh Washington and Gillispie won in 3:32.28. North Medford’s Tyren Wolfe was second in the 100 (10.82), with his mark lowering his own school record in the event. His time of 22.07 in the 200 was good for second, and is third best in school history. The North Medford boys 4x100 relay squad was second (43.45) and Eagle Point’s Kevin VanDyke was second (4:09.35) in the 1,500. Boys Tennis SOUTH MEDFORD 4, SOUTH EUGENE 4: South Medford's Kai Elam played his best match of the season and his victory in No. 3 singles was pivotal as the Panthers handed SWC undefeated South Eugene its only blemish in conference play at South Medford High. The Axemen previously had not lost more than two matches against any conference foe. Elam rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 win against Hagan Brown.
