On Tuesday, a woman broke into multiple cars parked at Superior Athletic Club parking lots in Medford. She reportedly took credit cards from wallets and purses left inside the cars, and put the wallets and purses back. "The victim's not going to know initially," said Medford police Detective Sgt. Brent Mak. From there, the woman went to multiple stores, including Target, Best Buy and Ulta Beauty, and ran up quite a bill on high-end electronics and prepaid gift cards. Police said the thefts and purchases happened during the late morning. It's at least the fourth time thefts like this have occurred at area fitness clubs since 2014, and police believe the same people may be involved. In past thefts, two males have accompanied a woman, and they have always gone after parked vehicles. "Their average haul is $10,000," Mak said. The suspects, who have been photographed using a variety of vehicles, know their actions are being caught on surveillance cameras. Police posted a photo Wednesday of a woman leaving Target who they believe is involved, and said the thieves may be from out of town. "They are taking off their license plates before they go into the parking lots," Mak said. "They clearly know there is video." Police urge people not to leave valuables in their cars. Those who do should keep them out of sight, they said. Anyone with information about the woman's identity is asked to contact Medford police at 541-770-4784.
