Banner Corp., holding company for Banner Bank and Islander Bank, announced it will buy Spokane, Wash.-based AmericanWest Bank for approximately $702 million. SKBHC Holdings LLC and Starbuck Bancshares Inc. shareholders will receive 13.23 million shares of Banner common stock and $130 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close during the second quarter of 2015. Once the deal is approved by Banner shareholders and regulators, AmericanWest's owners will possess a 38.8 percent ownership stake in Banner.
