Medford police arrested Amos Thursday on a charge of first-degree theft. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained Thursday night on $15,000 bail. Crime reports Theft — 100 block of Cottage Street, Medford. Medford police took a report Wednesday of a theft of a 1999 Dodge Neon with Oregon license plate ZFE 841. Theft — 1400 block of Poplar Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report Wednesday of a one carat diamond solitaire valued at $2,000 from a vehicle. Theft — 1100 block of Progress Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report Wednesday of a theft of a digital camera, a camcorder, clothes and case from a vehicle. The items reported stolen had a total value of $1,560. Fire calls Grass fire — 5000 block of Elk Creek Road, Trail. Firefighters from Jackson County Fire District No. 4 and the Oregon Department of Forestry corralled a grass fire that burned an estimated 10 acres Thursday night. The forestry department sent a 20-person crew and dozer, and the district sent a water tender and brush rig, a District 4 firefighter said. The fire, reported at about 6:50 p.m., took about an hour and a half to contain. Advertisement Structure fire — 11000 block of Highway 238, Jacksonville. A fire at a pottery studio Thursday evening destroyed a small outbuilding that housed kilns and damaged another of the studio’s buildings. The fire spread to brush and small trees nearby, but was contained at about a tenth of an acre, Applegate Rural Fire District Capt. Joe D’Amico said. The fire was reported about 5:20 p.m. and nine firefighters with five trucks had it beaten within two hours. D’Amico said the building and contents lost had an estimated value of $13,000. A trust owns the property.
