She was born August 2, 1920 in Bryan, Ohio to George H. and Christina B. (Schriber) Simpson. Her passing was peaceful, in her sleep, after several years of wonderful care by a team of dedicated caregivers and friends, for which the family extends their thanks and deep appreciation. Helen married Arleigh J. Kenyon on a beach in Bandon, Ore. in 1938; they were married for 55 years until his passing in 1993. They were longtime residents of Cottage Grove and Ashland, Ore. Helen was an avid gardener; a member of the Rebecca Lodge; and loved music, sewing, and horseback riding. She especially loved camping trips in their motorhome. She played the mandolin and organ and greatly enjoyed family get-togethers. For many years she worked in the retail fabric business and later enjoyed working as a ward clerk at Ashland Community Hospital. Upon retirement, she moved to Eagle Point, Ore. Helen is survived by her sisters, Mildred Decker of Eagle Point, Ore. and Marjorie Merwin of Springfield, Ore.; her brother, Carl Simpson of Charleston Bay, Ore.; her sons, Weyburn and Jack Kenyon; her daughter, Sharon M. Kinney; her daughters-in-law, Nancy and Kathy Kenyon; her son-in-law, Richard Kinney; her grandsons, Scott, Brian, Brent, and Tony Kenyon, Jeff Leard, and George Bailey; her granddaughters, Shawna Leard and Kristy Imus; nine great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and four brothers. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Scenic Hill Memorial, Ashland, Ore. Pastor Jim Larson will officiate. Please join the family in a celebration of Helen’s life following the service at 4:00 p.m., in the banquet room at China Hut Restaurant, 450 S. Riverside Ave., Medford.
