I know his first two trials were declared mistrials, but what comes next? — A reader Dear reader, court records show Mr. Valencia-Gaona is now set for a six-day trial beginning Dec. 7. For those who don't know, Valencia-Gaona was arrested in September 2013 in connection with the stabbing death of 38-year-old Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez, who was found dead outside her apartment off Table Rock Road. His first trial in June 2014 was declared a mistrial after attorneys discovered a list of potential witnesses had been given to jurors by court officials. Valencia-Gaona's second trial in January 2015 also ended in a mistrial after a witness reportedly identified Valencia-Gaona to the jury after he previously had been instructed not to.
