Kinney paces the Minnesota golf team to a fifth-place finish LEBANON - Minnesota freshman Tai Kinney carded a 2-under par 70 in the final round of the Duck Invitational to lead the Golden Gophers' women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at Mallard Creek Golf Course. Kinney, a former Class 4A state co-champion from North Medford High, jumped from 15th place after the first day of action to a tie for fourth place in the final standings with rounds of 78, 73 and 70 for a 5-over par total of 221. She finished eight strokes ahead of her closest teammate and only five shots off the lead. Kim Welch of Washington State was medalist with a three-day total of 216, while Washington won the team title with an 882 total in the 15-team tournament.
