Anderson replaces Rich Miles, who has become the district’s director of elementary education. Anderson has worked in Medford schools since 1993. She taught sixth grade at Kennedy Elementary School for four years, then taught English, social studies, leadership and calligraphy at Hedrick Middle School. In 1999 she became dean at Hedrick, coordinating counseling services and assessment testing. Since 2003 she has overseen the schedule for all middl-school students and teachers. She also has coached volleyball and track. In a memo recommending Anderson’s hiring, incoming Superintendent Phil Long praised her as "an energetic, enthusiastic, thoughtful educational leader."
