SOU ends win streak of Albertson CALDWELL, Idaho -- Southern Oregon snapped Albertson College's seven-match win streak and held on to its first-place standing with Friday's five-game road victory in Cascade Conference volleyball. Erin Lytle and Shelley Gorin paced the Raiders as they escaped with a 15-4, 6-15, 15-6, 12-15, 15-13 win. Lytle had 66 assists, while Gorin notched 18 kills and 20 digs. "We took turns beating up on each other and then played two pretty good games," SOU coach Paul Elliott said in summing up Friday's match. The Raiders led 8-2 in the pivotal fifth game before Albertson rallied for a 12-8 lead. Undaunted, SOU mounted its own comeback to tie the game at 12-all and then slowly pulled away for the victory. Monica Fisher added 16 kills and Beth Stidham had 15 for the Raiders as they improved to 19-3 overall and 10-1 in Cascade Conference play. Kristina Wurtz chipped in a game-high 25 digs for SOU. The Raiders remain on the road and face Northwest Nazarene tonight at 7 in Nampa, Idaho. Today's Sports Index Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, OR U.S.A.
