Medford man pleads not guilty to threatening Obama Comment By Local report MailTribune.com By Local report Posted May. 11, 2016 at 4:11 PM Updated May 11, 2016 at 5:02 PM By Local report Posted May. 11, 2016 at 4:11 PM Updated May 11, 2016 at 5:02 PM » Social News A Medford man who posted tweets threatening President Barack Obama entered not guilty pleas Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Medford. John Martin Roos, 62, of the 1400 block of Poplar Drive, was arraigned Wednesday on eight counts of making threats against the president and two counts of threatening federal law enforcement agents, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney William "Bud" Fitzgerald. Roos' next court appearance is June 27, Fitzgerald said. The felony charges stem from eight violent tweets Roos allegedly posted in March under the Twitter handle @indnjohnpatriot, and one Facebook post made during the Malheur occupation in January. The posts culminated in an FBI search warrant being executed on his apartment, where investigators allegedly found an AK-47 mounted on the wall, a loaded handgun concealed inside couch cushions and four pipe bombs. If convicted on all counts, Roos could face a maximum of 60 years in prison and $2.5 million in fines.
