With first ace, he follows in her footsteps Annie Roberts used to good-naturedly chide her husband, suggesting that she would be the first in their golfing family to make a hole-in-one. It was cute, if unlikely, considering the target of her challenge, Mike, is a teaching a professional at Rogue Valley Country Club. Well, she did make good on her threat but not by much. Only three weeks after his wife recorded her first ace, Mike Roberts accomplished the feat Saturday on the same hole at Rogue Valley CC. He aced the 165-yard fourth hole with a 6-iron, a shot witnessed by playing partners Don Pinkham, Dom Provost and Mike Trovato. Annie Roberts aced the fourth hole on July 20. It was playing to 107 yards, and she used an 8-iron.   Obituaries | Sports | Business | Classifieds |  Tempo | Prime Times | So Oregon Sites | Outdoor Journal | Subscribe | Contact | Movies | Advertise | Real Estate Showcase | Archive  | Editorials | Letters to the editor | Religion | Wake-up Call | NIE | Cyber Chef | Job Network | So Oregon Weather | WSJ Northwest | Forums | AP Wire | AP Money | F.A.Q. | Awards Ottaway Newspapers, Inc.
