Roberts Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 13, 2015 @ 2:00 am Posted Jan. 13, 2015 @ 2:00 am » Social News Norman D. Roberts passed into the loving presence of Jesus on the evening of Jan. 7, 2015 at the age of 91. Norman was born Feb. 2, 1923 in Augusta, Ark. Norman joined the U.S. Army in January 1943 and served in an antiaircraft battery guarding Gen. Patton's headquarters from Normandy across Europe to Germany. He was awarded 4 Bronze Stars for his service. Following his discharge in January 1946, he married his sweetheart, Eva L. Hicks, who was his love and partner for almost 69 years. Norman is survived by his wife, Eva; daughters, Barbara McDonald, Port Orford, Ore., Ann McDonald, Vancouver, Wash., Eve (Steve) DeSart, Bend, Ore.; and son, Norman Monrow (Kristina) Roberts, Chico, Calif. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren, and 6 greatgreat- grandchildren. In 1947, Norman moved his family from Arkansas to Little Valley, Calif. where he worked as a timber faller. Later moves took them to Burney and Chico, Calif., where he worked in the mills and as a foreman for PG&E. In 1956, he was radically saved and committed his life to Jesus Christ whom he served faithfully until his passing to heaven. For 18 years, Norman preached in the parks of Chico and started a ministry called Acts 1:8. In 1991, he and Eva moved to Medford to assist in pastoring a church and to continue his call to evangelism. You might well have seen Norman walking or jogging and waving at people, been hugged by him in the store, or heard him singing and playing the harmonica in one of the many outreaches that they were part of. He was filled with the love of God and brought many to salvation. Norman will be missed by many people but we all celebrate his eternity in heaven. There will be a military honor service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery located at 2763 Riley Rd., Eagle Point. A celebration service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Family Life at 1870 W. Stewart Ave., Medford.
