Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said a stainless steel food-preparation station and an ice maker were taken in October from Adam's Deli and Bakery in the 2900 block of Doctors Park Drive. The stolen property was valued at about $450. Budreau said the ice maker resurfaced last week on Craigslist. Deli staff saw the item advertised and contacted Medford police. Police called the pair who allegedly had posted the equipment for sale: 35-year-old Sara Mitchell and 35-year-old Kristopher Green. "We arranged with the potential seller to meet us at the Walmart south, which they did," Budreau said. Police met Mitchell and Green at 4 p.m. Sunday, but the pair told them they had sold the ice maker already, Budreau said. Officers brought up that they were also looking for a food preparation station — the other piece of stolen property — hoping to keep Mitchell and Green around and make a buy, he said. "We tried to casually bring that up, that we were also looking for other items such as that," Budreau said. "That's ultimately what they agreed to sell us." Police arrested both Mitchell and Green and determined they actually had no property with them to sell. "It's certainly unusual that they showed up and didn't bother to bring the item," Budreau said. The suspects told police the prep station was at a house in the 700 block of Palm Street. It has since been recovered, though the ice maker is still missing, police said. Both suspects were arrested on charges of first- and second-degree theft and first-degree criminal conspiracy to commit theft. Mitchell also was arrested on a charge of methamphetamine possession, police said. Neither was listed in the Jackson County Jail Monday.
