Curtis Eugene Fleming, 29, was found guilty Thursday in a non-jury trial before Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Lorenzo Mejia. A conviction for second-degree kidnapping carries a sentence of five years and 10 months in prison under the state’s tough-on-crime law, Measure 11. "All his escapades finally earned him a trip to prison," Medford police Sgt. Roy Skinner said of Fleming. Early this year Medford police received numerous reports of a man approaching teenage girls and asking them to perform odd stunts such as swapping items of clothing. He claimed the stunts were for contests or TV shows. Advertisement After a January incident in which Fleming had teenagers swap jackets and tried to lure them behind a building, police arrested him on a warrant charging him with parole violation because he failed to report to his parole officer and skipped sex-offender treatment. In April, Fleming grabbed a 12-year-old girl and tried to drag her into bushes downtown when she and a friend refused to go along with his odd requests. Her friend, 13, pulled her free and the two fled. Police filed kidnapping and harassment charges in the case and said at the time that they feared he was becoming aggressive and could get violent. In 1998, Fleming was convicted of two counts of harassment and placed on probation. In 2000, he pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct and spent less than a year in prison.
