Dean Franklin Taylor, 38, appeared in Superior Court Wednesday. Judge Beth Freeman heard from two prosecution witnesses and determined that he should stand trial, court records said. Taylor, currently free on $100,000 bail, returns to court March 11 to enter a plea. The San Mateo Daily Journal reported that San Mateo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaff said Taylor grabbed a 25-year-old woman sitting next to him on a flight from Medford and announced "I want to kill the Taliban." The flight crew restrained Taylor, who was arrested when the plane landed. The threat charge is a felony and the battery charge is a misdemeanor, the district attorney’s office said. The charges carry a sentence of up to three years in prison. The Daily Journal reported Taylor was a self-employed mechanic. Taylor doesn’t have a Medford phone listing.
