Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend January 2, 2006 Since You Asked Central Point still looking into lost funds I would like to know what is happening with Trina Blanton and her embezzling from the City of Central Point. Nothing more has been said since the first article. — Carol R., via e-mail The ongoing case involves reconstructing records for Central Point Municipal Court, said Kevin Neely, spokesman for the state Attorney General’s Office. Financial investigators for the Oregon Department of Justice may be in Central Point working with city officials next week, Neely said. Advertisement The investigation opened after an internal audit in August 2004 showed money was missing from Municipal Court accounts, said City Manager Phil Messina. The court clerk, Katrina Blanton was placed on administrative leave, but less than three weeks later, she resigned, stating that "health reasons" forced her to quit. A four-year city employee, Blanton was the only full-time court worker. She collected fines, among other duties. No charges have been filed against her. Neither Messina nor the Department of Justice have said how much money may be missing. Messina said "administrative steps" had been taken to prevent any future embezzlement.
