Motorcycle rider dies after deer collision By Local report Posted May 15, 2018 at 9:36 AM Updated May 15, 2018 at 9:36 AM Oregon State Police say a Canadian man died Monday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer on Highway 62 near Prospect. Oregon State troopers and emergency personnel, who responded at about 10 a.m. Monday, said an investigation revealed that a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Gary Yarmie, 37, of Oshawa, Ottawa, Canada was traveling north on the highway with 18 other riders when a deer ran into the group of motorcycle riders. The deer collided with Yarmie's motorcycle causing him to lose control of his motorcycle and leave the highway. Yarmie's motorcycle collided with a tree and he suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway 62 at the scene was reduced to single lane travel for approximately 4 ½ hours. OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
