The grants were awarded to Community Health Centers, Asante, Providence Community Health Foundation and Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center, Ashland Community Hospital, and the American Cancer Society. Community Health Centers received $3,000 for a program called "Every Woman Deserves and Medical Home." Asante received $2,250 for mammogram services. Providence Community Health Foundation and Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center received $1,250 for mammogram screening and technical readings. Ashland Community Hospital received $1,000 for cardiac and vascular imaging. The American Cancer Society received $1,000 for gas cards for patient transportation. These funds will help women in Jackson and Josephine counties. The Soroptimist clubs involved in organizing and putting on the Wine Walk are Ashland, Medford, North Valley and River Valley in Grants Pass. The initiative raises funds to help low-income women get needed health care. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes, and heart disease is now the number one killer of women in the United States.
