Library can�t send books by computer Why does the Jackson County library courier come to Prospect every day, Monday through Friday? It then heads toward Butte Falls probably goes to the other small communities in the county as well. In the age of computers, this is a big waste of money. � George G., Prospect If you�ve ever requested a book from another library branch, George, it reached Prospect via the courier van. The van delivers and picks up books requested by library patrons. "There�s no way to provide the entire 450,000-volume collection and all the titles in every branch," said county Library Director Ronnie Budge. "In order the equalize service for people, we make the books available where people live." The library�s vans visit each branch five days a week transporting books people request. But each branch also has computers. If information can be sent by computer, fax or phone, the librarians do it that way instead. "There�s no way now that books can be delivered via the Internet," Budge said. "At least not the big books we have in our collection."
