Main St., Ashland. One of the highlights will be a large-scale model train set, along with marionettes, pinball machines, magnetic toys and games of chance. Visitors also may create their own toys. Toy Science will run through Jan. 15, 2007. The museum will be accepting donations of new toys for "Toys For Tots" through Dec. 13. Bring a toy and receive a 10 percent discount at the museum's new science store. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is $7.50, $5 for children ages 2 to 12 and seniors over 65. Group rates are available. See www.scienceworksmuseum.org or call 482-6767. CHILDREN'S COMMUNITY PLAY GROUP: Living Earth Circle sponsors a baby and young children's playgroup from 10 a.m. to noon on the first and third Friday of every month at Pioneer Hall, next door to the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way, Ashland. Performers, teachers and families share in activities such as music, dance, puppet shows and crafts. Admission is $5-$10 per family. Part of the proceeds benefit Caring Community Network. The shop's annual holiday open house also will feature a book signing by Phyliss Gustafson, author of "Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest," from noon to 2 p.m., and Bob Coash will provide children's magic shows at 2 and 2:45 p.m. Admission is free. Call 482-3241. GUN SHOW: The Medford Rifle and Pistol Club will host a gun show Friday through Sunday, Nov. 24-26, at its clubhouse, 1253 E. Vilas Road, Medford. Hours will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and includes one raffle ticket for a scoped rifle. Advertisement FESTIVAL OF LIGHT: Santa's Parade and live entertainment will kick off Ashland's Festival of Light celebration at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, on the city's plaza. Afterward, Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead a countdown to the Grand Illumination and officially turn on more than a million lights in Ashland's downtown area. Saturday, Nov. 25 WINTER LIGHT FESTIVAL: Downtown Medford's annual Winter Light Festival will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Vogel Plaza, corner of West Main Street and Central Avenue. Holiday entertainment will begin at noon on the plaza to lead up to the ceremony. Santa will arrive on an antique fire engine, and free hot chocolate will be provided by the Salvation Army. RAILROAD SHOW: The annual Rogue Valley Railroad Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 25-26, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. The event includes model railroad displays and a swap meet. There will be door prizes and a raffle. Proceeds will benefit the Medford Railroad Park. CANDY CANE HUNT: Medford Parks and Recreation will host a candy cane hunt and marshmallow roast from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Hawthorne Park, corner of Jackson and Hawthorne streets, Medford. The candy cane hunt is for ages 1 to 12, and the marshmallow roast is for the entire family. Live music will be provided by the Rogue New Horizons Band. The event is free. Call 774-2400. BREAKFAST: Sausage, ham, eggs, pancakes, biscuits, gravy, juice, fruit and coffee will be offered from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Warren Masonic Lodge, California and Oregon streets, Jacksonville. AIRCRAFT TOUR: A Boeing KC-97, an aircraft that was built in 1952 and used as a troop transporter, a cargo carrier and a hospital ship as part of the Strategic Air Command, is open to the public from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays at the Rogue Valley International Airport, 3350 Biddle Road, Medford. HISTORIC WALKING TOURS: Ben Truwe unlocks the secrets of the past during his "Haunted Brothels and Opium Dens of Medford" walking tours offered at 11 a.m. Saturdays. Find out where Medford residents "lynched the knocker and burned the hammer." The free tours last about two hours and are suitable for all ages. Participants should dress for the weather and meet at the Southern Oregon Historical Society's History Center, 106 N. Central Ave., Medford. Call 773-8369 for reservations. Sunday, Nov. 26 CHRISTMAS TOY RUN: The Southern Oregon Inter Club Council will hold its Christmas Toy Run 2006 for ACCESS from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, in the parking lot of the Rogue Federal Credit Union, 1370 Center Drive, Medford. All cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. Bring new or clean, used toys to donate to less fortunate children in the Rogue Valley. Call 535-6251 or 941-4905. BAD FILM SOCIETY: The Bad Film Society responds to the release of the new James Bond film, "Casino Royale," with a 1979 trashy spy spoof from the Philippines, "For Your Height Only," to be presented at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, in the basement of the Ashland Elks Lodge, 255 E. Main St., Ashland. The film features Agent 00 played by Weng Weng, a three-foot-tall kung fu master in a white disco suit. Also being shown will be assorted and sordid short subjects and cartoons, along with the 14th chapter of the 1941 serial "Jungle Girl!" Bring your Thanksgiving leftovers for a potluck dinner and unload your trashy videos as door prizes in a raffle. Ross Lane, Medford, the nonprofit museum and play space offers interactive exhibits and activities designed to educate and entertain children, including the Tribune publishing station, the Math Midway hands-on carnival of numbers, the Into the Woods forest exploration, "All the World's a Stage" and the Providence Kids' Clinic. The museum also offers self-directed and instructed arts and crafts projects and workshops, storytelling activities and a full-service café. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Most activities are free with museum admission. A mosaic mirror workshop will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 25. A cartooning class for ages 7 to 11 will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29. Thursday, Nov. 30 FESTIVAL OF TREES: A holiday party featuring live music by Zion Train will kick off the Providence Festival of Trees from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. The annual festival features trees and holiday displays created by designers from the Rogue Valley and will be open for viewing Friday through Sunday, Dec. 1-3, at the Medford Armory. There will be a Holiday Store, a Children's Playhouse and raffles. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5, $3 for seniors and children ages 2 to 12. Dancers from the Medford Civic Ballet and the Dance Arts Academy will perform excerpts from "The Nutcracker Ballet" at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Call 732-5193. Sunday, Dec. 3 SHOOTING CLUB: Shoot 'em up Western-style with the Table Rock Rangers, a cowboy action shooting club that shoots at 9 a.m. on the first Sunday and the second Saturday of every month at the Jackson County Sports Park, 6900 Kershaw Road, Central Point. The club shoots in accord with "The Single Action Shooting Society" and wears period clothing. Admission to the shoots is $13. HOLIDAY HOME TOUR: The 15th annual holiday home tour sponsored by Soroptimist International of Medford will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.
