Daniel Pelleschi, 34, described as a Medford-area transient, is held on a parole violation stemming from a previous burglary conviction and an additional failure to appear charge, jail records show. Chief Derek Bowker of Phoenix police said additional charges related to the robbery and a subsequent break-in at a nearby trailer park are pending. "(He's) pretty well known to police," Bowker said. "He has a fairly lengthy arrest record." Investigators said Pelleschi entered the bank, located in the 4000 block of Highway 99, just before 4 p.m. He donned a brown hooded sweatshirt, the hood up with the ties pulled tight over his face so little was visible. He also wore a black pea coat over that. Bowker said Pelleschi approached a teller and said, "Give me the f----- money," in a "forceful" voice, though he reportedly did not present a weapon or threaten to hurt the teller. The bank employee complied with Pelleschi's demand. Police said he then fled the bank with the cash — the amount was not disclosed — and ran south on Highway 99. He entered a nearby trailer park and was seen kicking in a door at a trailer before entering. "He’s been in that area quite a bit," Bowker said. "(A witness) knew him as a person with a criminal history, thought it was suspicious to see him running through the park. So that witness called police and advised us." Police responded and arrested Pelleschi at the trailer at about 4:45 p.m., Bowker said. They recovered the cash, and also found a gun near the bills. Whether Pelleschi had the weapon on him at the time of the robbery is still under investigation. Court records show Pelleschi has felony convictions stretching back to 2005, when he was convicted of second-degree assault. Records show he has also been convicted of first-degree burglary. He has also been accused of robbery three times — a first- and second-degree case and a separate second-degree case from December 1996, and a third-degree case in 2004 — but all three cases were dismissed, records show.
