Tree-trimming contest Photo by Steve Johnson Matt Steffensrud, a Phoenix High School junior, decorates a Christmas tree at the DoubleTree Hotel in Medford. The hotel sponsored a tree-decorating contest, attracting students from Rogue River, Phoenix, South Medford, Butte Falls and Crater high schools. Rogue River won first place with a theme of "Holiday Spice," earning use of the DoubleTree's grand ballroom for a night. Phoenix came in second and Crater came in third.
