Or, in this case, driving. According to county road officials, North Phoenix Road falls under the jurisdiction of three different government agencies. The city of Medford and its police department are responsible for North Phoenix Road between Hillcrest Road and Barnett Road. Jackson County, and its sheriff’s deputies, have jurisdiction over North Phoenix Road between Barnett Road and Harbrooke Road. Finally, the Oregon Department of Transportation controls the remaining portion of North Phoenix, which ends at Fern Valley Road. State police are responsible for traffic violations along that stretch. Each government agency controls the speed limit for its portion of the roadway.
