Several hundred men were seated in a body and the address of the evening was especially to them. Delegations were present from Ashland and Central Point, also several persons from Jacksonville. The music was inspiring and of high order. A duet by Mr. Vessey and William Vawter was splendidly rendered. The cornet solo by Mr. Vessey "The Holy City," with chorus by the great choir, was especially good. Mrs. Van Stoyoe and Mr. Vessey also sang a duet which was highly appreciated. Mr. Mathis' sermon was on "Leprosy, a Type of Sin." Taking the story of the great Captain Naaman, he drew many parallels. Among other things he said: "Sin makes us unclean in thought as well as action. Sin makes all the outcasts in this odd world. There can be no double standard of morals. The double standard of morals begins not with men and women, just with boys and girls. We do not give our boys half a chance to be decent. A boy's best friend is his father and a father who is his boy's chum is a mighty asset in that boy's life. "Every boy has a right to one example before him of decency and cleanliness and that example should be none other than his own father. "Naaman's heading was wrought by obedience. Not a theory, but a fact. Jesus Christ makes possible a clean life, a wholesome character, and He alone can work the cure of moral leprosy." SOCIETY The Parent-Teacher circle of the Roosevelt school held its regular meeting Friday. Mrs. Stoddard addressed the circle, giving its aims and efforts of the civic department of the Greater Medford club, and enlisting the co-operation of the circle and the children of the school in furthering the work in the Roosevelt district. Mrs. Walsh gave a very interesting and suggestive paper on "Diet for School Children."
