Sgt. Terry Larson mans the clippers in the name of Cops for Kids. Mail Tribune / Roy Musitelli Top cop gets crop Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters went under the razor Wednesday during the department’s annual "Cops for Kids" fund-raiser. Fifteen deputies — including Sgt. Terry Larson who manned the clippers — shaved their heads to benefit Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. No tally of funds raised was available because many donors sent contributions directly to Doernbecher, said sheriff’s Sgt. Marty Clark, who organized the fund-raising effort. Deputies, who spent several weeks collecting donations, hope to have raised at least $1,000, Clark said. The project yielded about $1,500 in donations last year, he said. Stylists at BeechyKeen Salon in Central Point donated their clipping tools and made sure they were used safely, Clark said.
