Four win SOREDI honors Two Grants Pass businesses, one Medford business and a Medford nonprofit group were honored by Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc. on Thursday for their work-force development efforts. Medford Fabrication, Evergreen Federal Savings and Loan and Universal Rubber Stamp Manufacturing won the large, medium and small business honors while the Medford-based Job Council won the nonprofit category. The annual awards recognize employers that have demonstrated a commitment to employee training and team-oriented management. Companies were nominated by their peers and the criteria used to pick the winners included in-house training programs, average or above average wages, upward mobility opportunities, tuition aids and professional development plans. The winners each get a $1,000 work-force training scholarship grant. Large businesses are classified as those with more than 100 employees, medium businesses as those with 20 to 100 employees and small businesses as those with fewer than 20 employees.
