Andrew Robert Brickley, 30, of the 600 block of Park Street pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, fourth-degree assault and stalking. On Feb. 5 and 6, the 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound Brickley had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent. He also assaulted her, causing physical injury, according to court records and court testimony. Brickley admitted in court to sending "profane and violent text messages," including a threat, Feb. 6 and 7. Brickley, who has been lodged in the Jackson County Jail since mid-February on $1 million bail, was sentenced to the eight months he has already served in jail, plus three years probation. He must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, have no contact with the victim, take part in a sex offender treatment program, remain a law-abiding citizen and pay $324 in restitution. If he violates any terms of the probation, he faces four years in prison. Speaking in court, the victim said the attacks had destroyed her mentally and made her feel dirty, worthless and untouchable. She told Brickley, "You have been stalking me in my nightmares." Brickley told her, "I would like to apologize for any long-term psychological damage caused by my actions." Court-appointed defense attorney Mark Hendershott said Brickley has mental health problems. In a letter to court officials, Brickley's mother said he hadn't been given adequate mental health medication while in jail. She also said he had suffered ritualistic abuse at the hands of a neighbor when he was 3 years old. In 2014, Brickley, who sometimes works as a video-game developer, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault after striking his father several times on the head. Brickley told police he believed his father "had sent people to cut his hair and rape him during the night," according to an affidavit.
