The Raiders improved to 19-4 overall and 9-3 in the Cascade Conference. Tim Weber added 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds, and Ben DeSaulnier scored 11. Corban (11-10, 4-8) forced the second extra frame thanks to a Taylor Fox putback at the end of the first overtime. The Warriors led 59-58 until SOU's Eric Thompson hit a corner 3-pointer with 26 seconds on the clock, and Jordan Carter was fouled with 2.6 seconds to go on the other end. Carter missed both free throws, but Fox rebounded and threw in the second miss in one motion to beat the buzzer. SOU had possession last in regulation, but Thompson lost the ball inside and the score remained tied at 51-all. That was the end of an ugly second half in which the Raiders went 7-for-21 from the field after having shot 60 percent (15-for-25) during the first half. They led by 10 when Justin Martin nailed his third 3-pointer and 34-26 at halftime, but Corban tied the score at 37 with 12 minutes remaining. At that point, SOU had only made one basket in the second half. Corban was up 51-47 with 3:21 left in regulation after a pair of Crowe free throws. Weber scored inside on SOU's next possession and DeSaulnier tied it with a break-away layup at the 2:47 mark. The Warriors were led by Cyrus Ward's 19 points and nine rebounds, Carter's 12 points and five boards, and Cody Crowe's 11 points and eight boards. Women's Basketball SOU 74, CORBAN 64: At Ashland, Autumn Durand and Kristen Schoenherr scored 18 points apiece and combined for 17 rebounds and the 13th-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team defeated Corban, 74-64, Friday night at Riehm Arena. Ashley Claussen made three second-half 3-pointers and added 17 points, four assists and four rebounds for the Raiders (18-3 overall, 9-3 Cascade Conference), who broke a tie for second place in the standings with the win. Corban (14-10, 8-4) was led by Tara Van Weerdhuizen's 18 points, six rebounds and six blocks. Wrestling SOU 22, MENLO 16: At Atherton, Calif., Jacob Abrams and Taylor Johnson delivered back-to-back clutch pins at 184 and 197 pounds, allowing the second-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team to come back and clinch a 22-16 dual win over seventh-ranked Menlo. The Oaks put the Raiders on the ropes right away as third-ranked Troy Lakin (125), Brian Ha (133) and 15th-ranked Steele Escobedo (141) won the first three matches for 10-0 advantage. SOU battled back — first getting third-ranked Tyler Cowger's 6-2 decision over Christian Franks at 149 and third-ranked Dalton Urrutia's 11-1 major decision over Tyler Thomas at 157. However, after Menlo's Eric Lopez (165) and SOU's Reed Tennyson (174) traded decisions, SOU still trailed 13-10. That's when Abrams and Johnson stepped up. First it was the fourth-ranked Abrams (184) who took care of Paul Bracamonte in 1:43, and then the second-ranked Johnson (197) got Zac Grove to fall in 1:26. After the Raider victory was already certain, Menlo's second-ranked Scott Brasil earned a 3-1 overtime victory over No. 5 Clayton Burtis in the heavyweight battle. SOU improved to 13-2 on the season.
