Armed man robs Chase Bank Suspect displayed handgun before fleeing with cash, police say Comment By Nick Morgan Mail Tribune Follow @@mtcrimebeat MailTribune.com By Nick Morgan Mail Tribune Follow @@mtcrimebeat Posted May. 19, 2016 at 12:13 PM Updated May 19, 2016 at 5:08 PM By Nick Morgan Mail Tribune Follow @@mtcrimebeat Posted May. 19, 2016 at 12:13 PM Updated May 19, 2016 at 5:08 PM » Social News Medford police are looking for an armed robber who fled a bank in the high-traffic Crater Lake Plaza midday Thursday. A middle-aged suspect displayed a handgun at 11:52 a.m. Thursday at Chase Bank, 3607 Crater Lake Highway, before fleeing the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. Police described the suspect as a white man, 40 to 50 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, 200 pounds, with gray stubble facial hair and wearing a red ball cap with white emblem, plaid button-up shirt with gray shirt underneath and blue jeans. Medford police Lt. Kerry Curtis said he didn't know how many patrons were in the bank at the time. The suspect fled the bank through the west doors, Curtis said. "From there, we're not sure where he was headed," Curtis said. Police watched surveillance footage from nearby businesses for clues, and believe the robber left the scene in a small gray or dark silver sedan. A photo indicates it could be a recent model Nissan Versa. Police said it's possible the four-door sedan has a spoiler on its trunk. Because the man is armed, Curtis advised people not to confront the robber if they spot him. "We want you to call us and try to keep a close eye on whoever it is," Curtis said. "We'll be responding quickly." Anyone who can identify the man is asked to call 911 or Medford police at 541-770-4783.
