In which case, Mark McKechnie, the architect on the project, assured us there is nothing to worry about. McKechnie said nothing will be able to penetrate the sealed, concrete deck separating the parking lot from the units, which will be built about 15 feet off the ground. Although carbon monoxide weighs approximately three percent less than air, it mixes and moves with air. And since the parking lot will be open, allowing for lots of air movement, artificial ventilation won’t be necessary per the city’s building code. “Any potential fumes will dissipate and blow away," McKechnie said.
