The attack occurred on Sept. 26 in the Northridge Terrace home of Paul Murphy Jordan, 65, and Alex Kool Harrington, 32. Jordan burst into Harrington's bedroom brandishing a foot-long pry bar and a large knife with a brass-knuckles handle, according to a police report. "His intent was to confront Harrington about sexting his (Jordan's) girlfriend," according to the Medford police affidavit. "After a verbal exchange, Jordan struck Harrington in his face with the pry bar, causing a contusion and laceration requiring seven stitches." Jordan pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted second-degree assault in Jackson County Circuit Court Thursday and waived his right to a trial. Judge Lorenzo Mejia sentenced Jordan to 40 months in prison and three years' post-prison supervision and ordered him to pay $5,439 in restitution for Harrington's medical bills. Jordan also pleaded guilty to a methamphetamine delivery charge stemming from a July 23 Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement raid. Jordan apologized in court for the attack. "I'm very sorry this happened. Alex Harrington was a friend of mine," Jordan said. "It shouldn't have happened this way." Defense attorney Paul Moser requested Jordan be released prior to his prison sentence for medical appointments and to handle his affairs, saying Jordan didn't have anyone on the outside to store and sell his possessions. Mejia declined to release Jordan because he is a high-risk offender. He told Jordan most individuals grow out of these drug crimes in their 40s. "Here you are, sir, in this very advanced age still engaged in this criminal activity," Mejia said. "You need to turn this around so at least the rest of your life isn't in prison." In the drug case, MADGE investigators found evidence of drug sales at Jordan's residence, including 10 grams of a crystal substance, digital scales and plastic bags for packaging. The crystal substance, found in four separate plastic bags, tested positive for methamphetamine in a field test kit, according to court records.
