No one was hurt in the 12:10 p.m. grass fire, which charred about half an acre of land between I-5 and the Rogue River, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry. The fire appeared to have ignited just off the southbound lanes’ right shoulder, said Dennis Turco, a fire-prevention specialist with the ODF’s Central Point office. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation Monday, Turco said. The southbound right lane was blocked by fire equipment, causing delays as rubbernecking drivers were funneled through one southbound lane. ODF firefighters were on the scene less than half an hour, Turco said. Police placed "wreck-ahead" signs to warn approaching motorists of trouble.
