Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Sep. 28, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Sep. 28, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News Sept. 28, 1915 CRATER LAKE SEASON CLOSES SEPTEMBER 30 The season at Crater lake will close Thursday, September 30, and there will be no accommodations at the hotel after that date, according to Superintendent Will G. Steel. Travelers to the lake are advised to arrange for accommodations at Prospect, covering the distance to and from the lake in a day. All national parks close Sept. 30. This is the glorious season of the year at the lake. There is little snow, and practically the same weather conditions prevail as in the valley. Superintendent Steel is now compiling figures and data on the year's business that will show a substantial increase over previous seasons. GOVERNOR WILLIS OF OHIO HERE THURSDAY Governor and Mrs. Willis of Ohio will be in Medford Thursday, arriving on the 10:45 train and leaving the next morning at the same hour, and will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Andrews during their stay in the city. The commercial club plans to drive the governor's party through the valley Thursday afternoon, and in the evening the ladies of the Greater Medford club will give an informal reception for Mrs. Willis on the mezzanine floor of the Hotel Medford, while the gentlemen entertain the governor on the main floor. Members of the Ohio club will no doubt be in attendance in large numbers to greet the governor and his wife, but all the ladies of Medford, regardless of club membership, are urgently requested to attend the reception given our distinguished visitors. Editorial: WHERE DISCIPLINE ENDS KAISER WILHELM, according to a dispatch from Amsterdam, has sent an autograph letter to German generals on the western front informing them that an important allied victory will be considered due to culpable negligence on the part of German commanders, and therefore sufficient cause for severe disciplining. It is reported that "disciplining" of German officers on the east front for permitting the Russians to escape from Vilna is already under way. The battle of Ypres, in which the Germans were repulsed in their campaign to reach the English channel, with staggering losses, was fought under his personal direction and tens of thousands of his subjects mercilessly slaughtered in his mad and futile effort to reach his goal.
