F-15 Eagle fighter jets from the Oregon Air National Guard's 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls are scheduled to fly over celebrations at 9:45 a.m. in Central Point, at 10 a.m. at Lake of the Woods, at 10:10 a.m. in Ashland and 11 a.m. in Eagle Point. 1. Parades: You've got your choice of several parades to take in today, including one in Central Point, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on Second Street and proceeds to Eighth Street via Pine Street. Ashland's annual parade extravaganza starts at 10 a.m. at Triangle Park and follows Siskiyou Boulevard to East Main Street, ending at Water Street. Eagle Point's parade begins at 11 a.m. near Eagle Point High School and makes its way through downtown. 2. Fireworks: The skies will be lit up all over the valley tonight with fireworks displays. Those include The "Red, White and Boom" show sponsored by the Medford/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce at The Expo in Central Point. Gates open at 5 p.m., and live music begins at 7 p.m. (corrected) Fireworks start at 10:05 p.m. Eagle Point's light show will shoot off from the high school, with events beginning at 6:30 p.m. In Ashland, fireworks are scheduled to start at 10 p.m. at the Southern Oregon University athletic field. 3. Music: At the Butler Band Shell in Lithia Park, the Ashland City Band performs from noon to 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 to 1:30 p.m., followed by Chapter II, the Jefferson State Choral Coalition, Steven Swan and Blue Sunday. The "Star Spangled Spectacular" begins at 8 p.m., with more than 200 members of the American Band College master’s degree program playing at the Ashland High School football stadium. Music will begin at 11 a.m. in Central Point's Robert Pfaff Park and continue until 5 p.m., with several bands, including Husk, performing. 4. Runs: You had to get up early today to keep up with the runners across the valley. In Central Point, a 5K run starts at 7:30 a.m. at Pine Street between Third and Fourth streets, followed by a kids run (ages 5-12) that begins at 8:45 a.m. at the corner of Third and Pine streets. Ashland sends runners off at 7:45 a.m. from the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., on 2-mile and 10K runs. In Eagle Point, 1-mile and 5K fun runs begin at Bob Moore Park on Main Street. Registration is available for the various runs starting about one hour beforehand. 5. Food: What's a Fourth of July without food? Feasting begins at 7 a.m., with Boy Scouts pancake breakfasts being held at the Central Point Grange Hall, 436 E Pine St., and Eagle Point Grange Hall, 5 S. Shasta Ave. A beer garden and other concessions will open at 11 a.m. in Robert Pfaff Park in Central Point. An arts and crafts fair, featuring a variety of vendors, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Ashland's Lithia Park. Jacksonville does it up with the Mayor's Fourth of July Picnic from noon to 3 p.m. at the Jacksonville Museum, 206 N. Fifth St., where there will be free hot dogs, chips and bottled water.
