CRIME Medford burglary nets guns, electronics and cash Comment By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Jan. 30, 2015 at 2:51 PM By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Jan. 30, 2015 at 2:51 PM » Social News A burglar stole thousands of dollars worth of property from an east Medford home Thursday, including firearms, jewelry, electronics and heirloom jewelry. The burglary was reported just after noon in the 800 block of Wabash Avenue. Police said the resident discovered his property missing when he came home for lunch. The man said he had locked the front door when he left home at 8 a.m. Thursday. "There were no signs of forced entry," said Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau, who added the house has a large dog door next to the front door. Two guns, an LCP .380 and Ruger P90 .45, $200 in cash, collectible coins, two laptop computers, a stun gun, iPhone charger, the spare keys to a vehicle, and vehicle titles had been stolen. Jewelry, including a family heirloom wedding ring, was also missing, along with a safe housing the two firearms and various other pieces of property. Police estimate the value of property and cash taken at about $6,000. Investigators believe the burglar exited the home through a rear sliding-glass door because it was unlocked. No footprints were found. Medford police said in a Facebook post that the case is a good reminder of the importance of not only locking valuables in a safe, but of bolting the safe down.
