Kyle Anthony Trautmann, 21; Darren Rolf Trautmann, 19; and Michael Robert McCann, 21, all of La Habra, Calif., were taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office about 8 p.m. Thursday, Jackson County Sheriff's Capt. Joe Puckett said. All three are students at Biola University in La Mirada, a private Christian college. The Trautmanns are originally from the Everett, Wash., area. A Jackson County grand jury indicted the three men on Thursday. They were charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. "We're working on the extradition process," Puckett said. "It usually takes about 10 days if they don't fight the process." Advertisement The three men stayed at the lodge off Interstate 5 on the Siskiyou Summit after a snowstorm closed the pass on Sunday evening. At about 3 a.m. Monday, a male employee caught the three men stealing several bottles of alcohol from the bar. When he tried to stop them, they hit him over the head with a bottle, stabbed his hand with a piece of broken glass, kicked him and took off, sheriff's officials said. Puckett said investigators thoroughly interviewed Callahan's employees and travelers who stayed at the lodge that evening, trying to figure out who the men were. Little clues slowly gave investigators an idea of who the men were, he said. Some witnesses remembered first names and others recalled the men said they were college students from Southern California. One of the witnesses recalled one of the suspects was wearing a Biola University sweatshirt. Detectives contacted the school with the information they had and were able to identity the suspects, Puckett said. He commended investigators and deputies, including lead Detective Dan Hobbs in cracking the case. "They did an excellent job of piecing the evidence together and being meticulous in gathering leads," Puckett said. "We're confident these are the suspects and we're real happy to get this solved."
